We’ve got 3 workshops coming up over the next fortnight.

‘Kids Show Craft’

If your kids want to put something in the Pavilion at the Walcha Show, but you don’t want to clean up their mess, then this is the workshop for you both!

The kids can come along and use the supplies at Walcha Handmade to make a great, creative item to enter in the Junior Section at the 2015 Walcha Show.  We’ll have Walcha Handmade members on hand to help the kids with their crafts.

These workshops are scheduled for Sunday 22nd February and Sunday 1st March.

‘Fabric Bag’

Leanne Natty will be running her second workshop on Saturday 28th February.  By the end of the day you’ll have made a fantastic fabric bag that everyone will be asking where you got! If you’re interesting in participating in this workshop contact Leanne direct on 0407 244 860 (evenings preferred) or email her at lavenderpatch [at] bigpond [dot] com.

If you’re a member of Walcha Handmade, more details on these workshops will be emailed to you shortly.

If you’re not on our email list, you can be!  Simply pop in to the shop and leave your name and email details on the Workshops clipboard that lives on the front counter.  We can then make sure that workshop details find their way to your inbox.

5 Crafty New Year’s Resolutions for 2015

It’s that time of year again, where the New Year’s resolutions come thick and fast.

Thought we’d put a crafty spin on them for those that love handmade!

1. I will organize my craft room.

We’re all guilty of this from time to time!  Whether you’re lucky enough to have an entire room devoted to your craftiness – or even just a table hidden in the corner of the spare room – every now and again it’s going to look like a bomb has hit it. What better time than the New Year to clear the decks and start afresh.

2. I will spend less on craft materials.

You walk into the craft section of your craft shop of choice and “Oh, the pretties!  I’ll have one of that, and one of that, and one of that.”
You wind up going home with armloads of supplies that then collect dust on your untidy work bench…
This is the year that we’re going to use them – as many as we can!

3. I will learn a new craft.

I know this is kind of counter-productive to No.2 – new craft = new craft materials = but I bet you’ve been wanting to learn felting, sewing, embroidery, macrame, quilling…. for ages now.
Why now make 2015 the year you give it a try?

4. I will teach someone my crafty skill.

A wonderful part of Walcha Handmade is that we run workshops teaching new crafty skills.  If you’re keen to become a teacher this year, let us know and we can fit you into the schedule.

5. I will finish a project before moving on to another.

Something else we’ve all been guilty of… starting a new project while the ufo (unfinished object) languishes in the back of a cupboard somewhere. It’s hard sometimes, when the fever of newness strikes, but you’ll thank yourself later if you finish the current project before moving on to the next.

What are your crafty New Year’s resolutions for 2015?

Or do you refuse to make them, knowing that you’ll never keep them!!
